Crossing off #10

A while ago back in the prime of strawberry picking season, I took a ride up to a U-Pick farm in Southern Eastern Wisconsin, to cross off #10.  Man, the smell driving into this place was AH-MAZING!  It was a dirt road with lots of curves to get to the fields and the closer I got the more fragrant the smell of sweetness was.  I wish I could have bottled up that smell to open later on.

I have never been berry picking before, I picked up my basket that holds approximately 6 pounds of strawberries and a picking I went.  Strawberry picking is hard work people lots, of bending over but it was so much fun.  The key is to look under the leaves for the best berries.  So there I was with my 6 pounds of strawberries, that needed to be cleaned and something done with.  Well I took half of them and made lots of my grandma's recipe for freezer jam and the other half are sitting in my freezer waiting for what I have planned for them.  I'm thinking gluten free strawberry pie... Hmmmm.... we'll see.

Have you ever been berry picking?  I'm thinking of going raspberry picking but that involves thorns, so I'm still thinking about that one.
