Crossing off # 25

On my 30 before 30 list #25 was to send a soldier a care package,  well I sent out two care packages.  I used the site Any Soldier   and went through the list of names and picked one randomly out.  There are over, 1,400 names on this site.  The soldier I picked is in a K-9 unit in Iraq and posted pictures of the dogs and stuff, and I am a sucker for dogs so I picked that soldier right away.  Then a few days went by and in more research I found that you can have two Military people through this site so I scrolled through the names again and picked a Marine this time stationed in Afghanistan.

A few days ago I sent them out their care packages.  At the post office, the clerk that regularly helps me with sending out the Junk orders told me that the packages get air dropped near an area where they are stationed every two weeks at the same time.  I had to ask if my package would have a parachute on it and she said probably not that it would be in a mail bag, but that the mail bag would most likely have a parachute on it.  Ha Ha... I wrote each of them a letter and told them, I had so much fun putting their care packages together that I would send out another one in September.  I included a self-addressed envelope and some paper and told them to write me if there was anything more specific that they wanted/needed.  We'll see, I'm not expecting to hear anything cause you know they are busy trying to stay alive and all :)

I encourage, anyone that reads this to check out the site if you are interested, some of these peoples stories brought tears to my eyes. Alot of them this is their 3rd or 4th tour over there and their supply stores don't have too many things and run out quickly.  Whatever your views of the war are, these are our people that need our help and support.

Antique Car Show

A few weekends ago I went to a Antique Car Show in search of a "new" old car for the Junk in da Trunk Girls logo.  I'm sure if I found the "right" car yet but I sure found some nice looking ones while I was there here are a few of my favorites.

I'm thinking about this one for the logo, but the owner was chatting with another car owner for over a half hour, and I have an idea for when I do find the right one.

Lovin that this one was ready for a picnic:)  This one was shaped like a bullet and had so many people around it this was one of the only shots I could get of it.

What about you do you like old cars?  I'm sure I'll hit up another show because I'm determined to find the right Trunk for the Junk:)

Excuse me while I play around with the new headers for the weekly posts:)  I got a new computer and with its' purchase I get a year of teaching!! Wow can't wait to learn how to make things pretty:)  Here's the blanks to fills in:)

1. People always tell me I look like  So and So that they know, I must have a familiar looking face

2. Friends don't let friends drunk text, call or facebook.

3. A sunny day is perfect for reading outside, going for a walk, DOING ANYTHING OUTSIDE.

4. My favorite accessory is a scarf/pashmina seriously I wear them all the time even in the summer, that's why they make light weight fabric.

5. If I could afford it I would buy a house with a backyard and a bulldog puppy.

6. The cure for boredom is browsing Etsy, watching E or reading a book or magazine.

7. I am currently in like with  exploring new neighborhoods, trying out vegetarianism, unwinding.

Anyone have any plans for the weekend?  I think I'm going to stay close to home and hang out with my other family, update the shops and work on some of my business plan, o and maybe nerd out with my new computer and catch up with my buds.  Hope you all have a good one!

Sophie

I'd love to say that this girl is the reason that I have been so social media challenged lately but that would be a fib. But meet my new "niece" Sophie isn't she the cutest?  I shot her 1 week pictures a few weeks ago, this is one of my favs,  love her tutu.

I've just been out of the loop and not really sure why, it could be my sudden obsession with Pinterest perhaps.  Have you heard of it?  It's this awesome site, that is like a virtual bulletin board for all things inspiration you find on the web.  Needless to say I am very inspired. Check it out and if you feel so inclined you can follow me HERE .
